Art knives are usually elaborate and made of rare and exotic materials, having finishing touches of a very high standard. These knives are collectors' items and often have a high investment potential.
A liner locking mechanism has a large leaf spring on the inside of the casing. When the blade is opened, the spring is released and clicks into position behind the pivot of the blade, locking the blade.
These knives have no locking mechanism. When opened, all the elements of the knife is held in place by the pressure of a spring.
